PREMT co-hosts multidisciplinary roundtable

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), PREMT and the Asia Pacific Centre for Military Law (APCML) co-hosted a multidisciplinary workshop on ‘Emerging Military Technologies Applied to Urban Warfare’ in Melbourne on 21-22 March.

Over the course of two days, participants from seven universities, multiple Australian government departments, and the Red Cross movement discussed topical legal issues relating to conflicts in urban areas. New technologies, ranging from cyber to autonomous systems to human enhancement, were a particular focal point of the event.

The Australian launch of a special issue of the International Review of the Red Cross on ‘War in Cities’ took place in conjunction with the roundtable.
